Lexington Bethel Baptist Church

History

Lexington Bethel Baptist Church began as a mission under the authority of Grace Baptist Church in Georgetown, KY in 1971. We held our first services as an independent body of baptized believers in 1972.

God has preserved His church to this day in that we endeavor to preach and teach the infallible and inerrant Word of God; Faithfully serve in the Lord's local, visible church and obeying His commands to His church. That is, to go out and reach everyone we can with the Good News of Salvation, baptizing believers and then teaching and edifiying His people to observe all things whatsoever He has commanded.

What a joy and blessing it is to come to His house to worship and have fellowship together with fellow saints.

What We Believe

HOLY BIBLE: we believe in the authority and inerrancy of the scriptures as the verbal, plenary inspired word of God.

GOD: we believe there is only one true and living God, infinite and holy, the maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, and worthy of all confidence and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

CREATION: was accomplished in six literal days and man was a direct creative act of God.

FALL OF MAN: we believe all men fell in Adam and are totally depraved therefore has no merit or power to save himself from the condemnation of sin; salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Christ, who, on the cross, paid the price of redemption for His sheep.

VIRGIN BIRTH: Christ was super-naturally conceived in the womb of a virgin being both God and man, yet without sin.

ATONEMENT FOR SIN: we believe that Christ laid down His life for His sheep bearing our sins in His own body making a full and satisfactory payment to appease the demands of a Just and Holy God.

NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH: we believe the Lord started His Church during His earthly ministry giving it only the authority to evangelize, baptize, and administer the Lord’s Supper. The church is always local never invisible, a body of believers assembled together by like faith in Christ as savior and in obedience to Him as the head of the body. Scriptural officers being a pastor and deacons, the purpose of the church is to preach the gospel and disciple the believers.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER: we believe scriptural water baptism is the immersion, in water, of a saved person, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, by the authority of a New Testament church to show in a solemn emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. Baptism is a prerequisite to church membership and the Lord’s Supper in which the local church, by the use of the fruit of the vine and bread, commemorates the death of Christ until He comes.

CHRIST’S RETURN: we believe it to be as literal as His ascension, and is imminent. He will gather all believers unto Himself and judge them for rewards, giving unto them their inheritance in the Lord. The unbelievers will be judged and will be cast into the “lake of fire and brimstone” where they will be punished forever and ever.
